Dear Neighbors,
Maplewood is evolving. I believe our city is ready for a new generation of leadership that understands where we are today and has a clear vision for where we need to go next.
For the past four years, I have had the privilege of serving you on the Maplewood City Council. I have listened to residents, knocked on doors throughout our community, worked alongside our neighborhoods and businesses, and stood up for transparency and accountability at City Hall.
Now, I am ready to lead Maplewood forward as your next Mayor.
My record shows how I will lead.
I fought for an open and transparent hiring process for our City Manager because one of the most important decisions a City Council makes should be conducted openly and with accountability to the public.
I fought and voted to keep the Maplewood DMV open because I understood how important this service is for our residents and the surrounding community.
I voted no on the proposed Bruce Vento Trail bus line after reviewing the data and determining that the projected ridership did not justify the investment.
And I have continued to work directly with residents and neighborhoods to bring their concerns and needs to City Hall. I believe leadership begins with showing up, listening, and making sure people have a voice in the decisions that affect their community.
Those same principles will guide me as Mayor.
I want to rebuild and strengthen Parks and Recreation so Maplewood can, once again, offer great programs and opportunities for our youth, families, and seniors. Our parks, trails, recreation programs, and community spaces are investments in the quality of life that makes people proud to call Maplewood home.
I want to strengthen our local economy and grow our commercial tax base by supporting the businesses we have today, encouraging responsible redevelopment, attracting new investment, and preparing Maplewood for the economy of tomorrow.
I want to keep our neighborhoods safe by supporting our first responders while continuing to build trust and stronger partnerships between residents and public safety.
And I want a City Hall that listens and engages residents before major decisions are made. The dynamics of our community are changing, and our city government must be prepared to meet the changing needs of the people we serve. Every neighborhood and every generation should have a voice in Maplewood's future.
We also have to be responsible with your tax dollars. The cost of providing city services is rising, and I will not make promises that are unrealistic. Instead, I will focus on responsible spending, long term planning, protecting essential services, pursuing outside funding and partnerships, and making sure every dollar we spend delivers value to our community.
This primary election is about what comes next.
Maplewood is a great city with tremendous potential. But reaching that potential will require new ideas, strong partnerships, principled leadership, and a Mayor who is willing to show up, listen, and make difficult decisions when necessary.
Maplewood is ready for a new generation of leadership, and I am ready to move Maplewood forward.
On August 11, 2026, I humbly ask for your vote for Chonburi Lee for Mayor of Maplewood.
Together, we can build a Maplewood that is ready for the next generation while continuing to preserve the aspects that have made this community what it is today.
A City of Opportunity, Moving Forward.
